Suede Braid Hippie Headbands

Suede Braid Hippie Headbands

12 dreadsOur family and headbands don’t mix well. Headbands are always sliding off our heads! The only time I could keep one on, was when I had dreadlocks. Little Baldi-locks will not be getting dreads any time soon. But deep down inside, I think she wants to be a hippie, because these things are probably genetic.

One non-slip solution is to wear the Baha headband across her forehead. Which reminds me of the braided suede headbands my friend Amanda and I made while we were in Costa Rica. I If you’re going to wear your headband like a hippie, why not have a real Hippie Headband? So I am now formulating a plan as to how to make Hippie Headbands for BAHA hearing aids.

But I’m currently distracted trying to figure out how to adapt the “Celtic Knott” headbands to accommodate the BAHA. I made a bunch of them for PipSqueak when she was newborn, but she outgrew them. Which is why, from now on, all our headbands will be adjustable, and as well as being able to hold her hearing aid in place.

I spend my time making Custom Softbands and Accessories for Ponto, AdHear and Baha hearing devices. I am also a published author. I wanted our daughter to see herself represented in a story - a little girl who has facial differences and wears BAHA hearing aids. The book grew to include some of our friends who are all so wonderfully different. My first book, “Wonderfully Different, Wonderfully Me” features a diverse group of children and celebrates each child’s unique strengths. All children can see themselves in at least one of the characters, whether they look similar, or have the same interests or personality. "Wonderfully Different, Wonderfully Me" is the children's book that belongs in every household and classroom, to promote inclusion, acceptance, and friendship.
