My Story

I dreamed of living overseas, and starting a home for young mothers rescued from human trafficking. After three trips (for a total of one year) in India, I experienced multiple battles with parasites, and the aftermath of on-going health issues and food allergies. I thought that was the death of my dream, but through the challenge and pain, my dream was being refined.

Duane & I met through a Leadership Training Program and quickly fell in love. We married in 2011 and have two daughters whom we adore (Monkey aka Big Sis, and PipSqueak aka Little Sis). We have lived in India, Colorado, Idaho and Oregon. We enjoy rock climbing, hiking, biking, camping, and board games.

I have always enjoyed creating beautiful things, especially accessories for my two girls. So when our second daughter need a BAHA hearing aid, I modified my headbands to hold her hearing aid. Then I started The Baha Bowtique on Etsy to provide cute, affordable softbands for families like ours. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

This is our story of navigating the world of parenting and homeschooling, with the added challenges of Treacher Collins Syndrome, cleft palate, hearing loss, speech therapy, learning sign language.

My hope is to inspire and encourage mamas in their journey to raise healthy, thriving families in spite of whatever challenges life brings.
